In this presentation\, Jay will review a brief history of the art of beekeeping\, the importance of honeybees in our ecosystem\, the roles of bees within the colony\, the components of a beehive\, and the challenges beekeepers face today. The mountains in both Henry and Patrick Counties are part of a unique honey production region and there will be a couple of varieties of honey from this area for tasting! DESCRIPTION:Let’s throw it back to the sweet memories of talent shows at Spencer-Penn School! Have you got a secret\, or even not-so-secret\, talent? Take the stage and show off on October 18th. Performing is free and all ages\, talents\, and skill levels are welcome! First place adult and youth awards and a Community Choice award will be given out. Judges will include Kelley Pickurel (Owner of StateLine Movement Dance Co.)\, Gracie Agnew (Educator and Community Advocate)\, and Chris Lawless (Owner of Lawless Welding).\nCommunity Choice award will be chosen through audience votes made during the intermission.\nAll performers must sign up through the Spencer-Penn office for an audition time to share what they plan to do on the stage and present their music. Audition dates include Thursday\, September September 25th from 5 to 7 p.m. and Sunday\, September 28th from 2 to 5 p.m. Office hours are Monday\, Tuesday\, and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. All talents and performances must be family friendly.\nAdmission is $3 adults and $1 for children under 12. Performers are free.\nPopcorn and drinks will be sold.\nThis is a cash only event.
